Can I Select My Baby's Gender?

Many people find gender selection of children to be a topic that is controversial.  Although it varies, it usually stems around genetic therapy and the ethics of picking the sex of your child.  During the time of certain advances in the genetics field actually natural and completely ethical things can still be done to increase the likelihood of selecting a gender for your child.

Although, no method is 100% accurate, if your desire is to have a boy or girl, then there are certain things that can be put into play to significantly increase your chances of conceiving the gender of your choice.  What's most important here is to have a healthy baby, no matter what gender turns up.  If, however;  you want to pick your child's gender, that is a possibility.  Here is what to keep in mind....

Differences in the Sperm

The boy sperm are carry by the "Y" chromosome sperm, therefore, the "X" chromosome are carry by the girl sperms.  The "X" sperm moves very slowly, because they are bigger in size.  Also, along with their overall speed, there are different preferences in dealing with the acidity of the vagina and the cervix.  "X" sperm, however; fairs better in an acidic environment.  On the other hand, "Y" sperm prefer an environment that is alkaline.

How These Differences Affect Conception

It is important to established the differences between the two sperm that carry the different chromosomes.  In doing so, we can gain an insight as to how important it is to understand how these differences can be used for natural gender selection.  As soon as you have the information, you can begin to put it to use and try to conceive a child that will be your specific gender.

Timing is very crucial in the boy gender selection.  The sperm have a short life which makes it vital to time your intercourse as closely to ovulation as possible.  It will gives the "Y" sperm time to get to the egg before the "X" sperm and will greatly increase your chances for a boy.

If your plan is to have a girl, then giving the "X" sperm plenty of time to reach the egg is needed.  The reason being is that they live longer.   You also, want to time your intercourse a few days before the expected ovulation.  The "Y" sperm will have already died off by the time you ovulate, thereby leaving the "X" sperm behind.  They will have the needed time to travel up through the cervix to reach the egg and fertilize it.
